Click on the open greenhouse that is on the right side and it will give you a close-up view. Click on the potted plant on the left and it will move revealing a spot underneath. Click on the spot and you will be taken to a slider puzzle.
This is a typical slider puzzle in which your objective is to move the piece of photo to the slot all the way on the right. You achieve this by clicking on the pieces of wood in order to move them. The pieces of wood can only move in certain directions. Please look at the screenshots for a step by step instructions on how to complete the slider puzzle. Once you’ve solved it go back to Mrs. Pitticot’s house and enter Gordon’s Chamber.
Pick up the following items: Dark Hair – It is under the bed, not too far from the shoe. Painter’s Key – In order to get the key you have to move the paintings that are underneath the window, right side. Shirt – Take the key that you just picked up and place it in the second drawer on the left side of the dresser. Aston’s Wig – It is on the top left side of the room, hanging on the coat rack. When you click on the wig you will get a close-up view of the wig. Grab the magnifying glass and place it on the lower left side.
Click on it when you see a tag that says ASTON.
Click on the bed and you will see a puzzle underneath. Your goal is to capture the squares before your computer opponent does by clicking on the lines in the field. Place your cursor over a line and you will see a yellow outline indicating that is the line you want to mark off. If you decide you want to mark it, simply click on your mouse. Every time you click on a line the computer will do the same. It’s important to pay attention to what the computer is doing. You want to close up any squares before it does. The last square that you form will have the total number of squares you’ve completed successfully. The same goes for the computer. Your squares are blue and the computer’s is orange. You will win when you manage to make more squares than the computer does. There’s no solution for this puzzle since everything depends on the moves you and the computer make. Once you’ve beaten the computer you will get a note on the screen. Go back to Scotland’s Yard.
Scotland Yard – Suspects File – Garry Oak.
Go back to Scotland Yard and click on the Suspects file. Select Garry Oak and look for the following items: Green Jacket – It is on his right shoulder. Playing Card – It is in his left hand. Oak’s Hair – Click close to his right ear. English Cigarette – In his mouth. Blood – On the left side of his jacket. Oak’s Shoes – Click on his left foot. Move on to level 6.
Cement Works – Deserted Room.
Go to the map and click on Cement Works-Deserted Room. You will need to pick up the following items: 8 Rays of sunshine-Please look at the screenshots for the location of all 8 rays. The rays are symbolized with the letter "R" next to each ray. A 3L beaker – It is on the right side of the room, on the wooden board close to the door. A 5L beaker – It is on the lower left hand side. A Male Hair – Lower left side, close to the edge of the hole on the floor. Greasy Substance – Far right side, on the railing, close to the door. Ashes – On the left side of the ground, close to the hole. On the right side of the room you will see the sun on the door. Click on your 8 rays from your inventory and then click on the symbol of the sun 8 times until all 8 rays are placed. You don’t have to keep going back to inventory to pick up rays, just click the mouse 8 times on the sun. Once all the rays have been placed it will shine a beam of light on the door in the opposite side of the room. Click where the light is shining and enter your next location.
Your goal in this section is to fill the 5 L beaker so that it can have the right weight to lower the scale and open the secret door on the pipe. Take the small beaker and place it on the water so that it fills up. Take the small beaker and click it onto the large beaker so that can fill up. Empty the large beaker in the grated hole that is on the left side of the ground. Just click the beaker onto the hole and it will empty out. Take the small beaker and fill it water once more and then empty it into the large beaker. Take the filled large beaker and place it on the cylindrical metal piece that is against the back wall, to the right of the grated hole cover. Once the weight has been pushed down, grab the note that came out of the pipe on the right side of the back wall. Click on the note and proceed to the map.
Click on the map and select Lindon Hall – Corredor. You will pick up several lamp pieces and then you have to assemble the lamp. Pick up the following pieces in the room: You can also refer to the screenshot if you can’t find an item. Lamp pieces (1) Lower left corner, on the small palm tree (2)Far left side, at the base of the steps. It is inside the flowers that are in the vase. (3)Far left side-under the left chair. (4) Far right side, by the books marked "GH" (5) You have to click on the small vase that is sitting close to the right side of the bookcase and it will move to the side. Click on the drawer and retrieve a drawing of a lamp and a (6) Lower right side, on the small palm tree. Take the newspaper from the small round table. Now go and start assembling the light.
You will notice a thin gold metal piece on the railing of the steps. That is where you need to assemble your lamp according to the drawing in the drawer. Grab all 6 lamp pieces, one by one and click them onto the railing. Start with the thin pieces first and then proceed with the lights. Once it’s assembled one of the lights will shine on a section of the bookcase. Click on that section to find another puzzle.
You will be given 2 sets of almost identical drawings, one is in color and one is on black and white. You must find all 5 differences in the picture and mark them. Make sure that you place your cursor over the colored picture or the game may not accept it. (1) The left ear of the gentleman. (2)The right shoulder of the gentleman. (3)Top right side of the tree (there is a piece sticking out). (4)The lady’s shoes. (5) The dog has a collar in one picture and not the other. Once you’re done you will get a map of the Linden Estate. Go to the map and click on the Aston Theatre – Caixa.
Pick up the following items: Theatre’s note – Right side, taped on the side of the mirror. List of Costumes – Far left side, on the metal shelf, under the black wig. Screwnut – Right side of the floor, under the chair. Screwnut #2 – Lower left side, on the edge of the carpet. Wheel – Far left side, on the ground, under where the brown wig is. Wheel #2 – Far left side, under the red uniform. Monkey Wrench – Left hand corner of the room. Take the 2 wheels from your inventory, one by one and place them on the cart that sits in front of the sink. Then grab the 2 screwnuts, one by one and place one over each wheel. Take the wrench from inventory and place it on the cart and it will move away from the sink. Click on the sink a pipe puzzle will appear.
You need to connect the pipes are so that there aren’t any openings leading from one end to the other. When you click on the pipes they will rotate. All the pipes do not have to be connected, just from one source to the other. You only have to make connections on the left side of the screen. Please look at the screenshot to view the solution. After you’ve completed the pipe puzzle and you’re taken back to the main scene make sure you collect the fake hair that is in the sink. Go back to the map and go to Aston Theatre/Backstage.
221b Baker St – Test the Evidence.
Take the ribbon from inventory and place it on the microscope. Take the knife and run it across the fabric. Take the tweezers and pick up the strand.
Pick up the piece of green jacket and place it under the microscope. Click on the knife and make a cut on the fabric. Grab the tweezers and pick up the strand.
Take the greasy substance and place it on the small white plate that should be on top of the burner. Add water and then solvent to the substance.
Take the ashes from inventory and place them on the microscope. Grab the tweezers and place them anywhere on the ashes. The message says that they’re thin cigar ashes.
Place the dirty fibers on the microscope. Grab the knife and run it along the fabric. Lastly take the tweezers and pick up the strand that is by itself.
Grab the piece of cloth and place it under the microscope. Take the knife and cut the fabric. Take the tweezers and pick up the strand that is by itself.
Take the ashes and place them on the microscope. Take the tweezers and place them on the ashes. The message says that they are French cigarette ashes. Go back to the map and go to Aston Theatre-Backstage.
Shoe Print – Left side, on the floor. In between the castle and the stone statue(closer to the castle). Cloth – Lower right side, on the red chair. Blood – Lower right side, on the floor. By the right arm of the red chair. Cane Print – Lower left side, in front of the open chest. Net – Left side of the floor. In front of castle. Dirty Fibers – Lower left side, on the handle that is next to the open chest.
Your goal is to repair the net by placing knots on the parts of the rope that are frayed. Simply click your mouse onto the section you want to fix and a knot will appear. The main thing is that the rope cannot pass a point that has already been fixed. Please look at the screenshot for the solution. Once you’re done with the net puzzle, toss the net over the bird on the highwire. Once it focuses on the bird, grab the key from its ankle. The store room will automatically open up.
Click on the umbrella to close it. Find the following items: Red Shoe Polish – On the third shelf of the bookcase. Ashes – Far right side, on top of the open chest. Knife – Far left side, behind the wicker basket. Blood – Right side, on the floor by the lamp. Click on the coat rack that is on the right side of the wall and it will give you a closer view. Take the knife from inventory and place it on the screw that is on the right. The rack will automatically fall open, grab the statue that is inside. There is a hatch on the floor, lower left side, grab the spoon and place it on the latch to open it. You will be taken to a slider puzzle with numbers.
Your goal is to place all the numbered tumblers in the center of the apparatus in ascending numerical order. This will enable you to open the trap door. The numbers have to be in correct order from 1- 10. The outer grooves only one tumbler. In the inner grooves, can hold more than one tumbler as long as the numbers follow each other (2,3,4 or 5,4.3 etc) Please look at the screenshots for the solution. Once you’re done don’t forget to to pick up the thief mask and the male hair from inside the trapdoor.
Pick up the club letter that is sitting in the bookcase.
Click on the book that is on the table and a book will open up. In this book you have several coats of arms. Your goal is to pick out the 2 identical ones in each page. You need to do this three separate times. Each time you match 2 armors correctly, the book will close up and that armor will automatically go into inventory. Once you’ve picked up all three you can click on the left wall to expand it. Place each coat of armor in its rightful place on the wall. It doesn’t matter where you click one, it will automatically go where it belongs. Please look at the screenshots for the solution. Click on the left wall to expand the view.
Click on the lower part of the fireplace and pick up the ashes.
Click on the safe that is in the back right side of the room and you will get a closer view. Click on the dials so you can get a close up view of the puzzle. Your goal is to figure out the mathematical equation. You have to find the correct combination that gives you the final answer of 82. There’s a limited amount of numbers in each dial so even if you don’t know the answer it may not be too hard to figure out. The solution is 2/2 -9 +5 *6 *3 (The *3 represents multiplication). Make sure you pick up the bloody banknote and the male hair that is inside the safe.
Click on the round table for a close-up view. In this close-up scene you need to pick up 7 pearls a ribbon and an opera paper. Click on both drawers of the stand that is on the right side and they will open up. Pick up 2 pearl pieces, a ribbon and the opera paper from inside the drawers. After you retrieve the opera paper a note will appear on screen. Look at the screenshot and pick up the rest of the pieces of pearl that are scattered around the room. Exit out of there to go back to the main scene.
Lindon Hall – Lady’s Sitting Room (Main Area)
From the main area, just pick up the 2 pearl pieces that are on the couch. Look at the screenshot for details since they’re hard to see. Click on the left hand side to get a better view of the dresser. Click on the Scales of Justice statue on the right.
The goal here is to place the pearls on each side of the scale so that the scale stays balanced. Some pearls weigh more than others so you have to weigh them in order to determine which ones go where. Look at the screenshot – all the pearls circled in red go on the right side of the scale. All the pearls marked in blue go on the right side of the scale. After you’re done weighing the pearls, pick up the scissors in the red sewing box. There’s a secret compartment that was locked behind the mirror. Pick up Mother’s Letter and the album that is inside. When you open the album, take the scissors and start cutting the picture of the lady.
Pick up the following items around the room: Candelabra – In front of the chest, in the middle of the room. Candlestick – Above the blue inventory box. Coin – It is on the lower right side, on top of the chest. Police Notice – It is in a small pot on the right side of the floor. When you pick it up you will read a letter. Crowbar – Far right side of the room, close to the arch. Click on the room partition and it will move to the side. Take the candelabra from inventory and place it n the dark corner behind the partition so you can pick up the ashes. If you place the highest part of the candelabra over the ashes, it is easy to pick up. Once you pick up the ashes go to where the automaton clown is. Grab the crowbar and place it on the 4 large stones that surround the poker machine. Once you’ve placed the crowbar on all 4 stones, the machine will go in an upright position. Click on the footprint that is on the ground (where the machine was). Take the candlestick and place it on the right arm of the clown. It will act as a makeshift lever.
Your goal is to find the next logical sequence of cards 3 times in order to win the game. Pull the lever and select a card from the pile on the left that goes in the next sequence. Place it the clown’s left hand. If you guess correctly you’ll move on. If you guess incorrectly the machine will turn itself off and the token must be put back. Grab the coin that is on the lower left side of the screen. Place the coin in the slot that is on the lower right side of the clown. Pull the arm of the clown and place the next three cards in its hand. The first solution is the 4 of hearts. The second solution is the 8 of clubs. The third solution is the Ace of clubs.
Take the ribbon and place it on the microscope. Grab the knife and place it on the cloth. Take the tweezers and pick up the string.
Place the ashes in the microscope and then take the tweezers and place them any where on the ashes. It tells you that they are expensive cigar ashes.
Place the ashes on the microscope and then place the tweezers on them.
Take the invisible letter from inventory and place it on the top part of the burner. Make sure that it the white plate is NOT on the burner. If it is it will not work. Click on the bottom part of the burner until the letter appears in the center of the screen.
Please look at the screenshot to see what it should look like. If you don’t know what an item is, just hover your mouse over it and it will tell you.
Click on the clock and then on Lord Lindon and then the opera paper. That establishes the time. Click on the knife in the middle of the screen and then click on the "Hideout" localização. Red box puzzle: Find the correct set of numbers that make a code. There are only 5 tries.
This is a random puzzle, so no solution is given.
The arrows cycle the numbers. The bar with the number below is the enter bar. There is a reset bar.
The wrong numbers are shown by red buttons and if the number is correct the button turns green.
I did this by entering 1 2 3 4 5 1 2 3 4 5 on the first try. See if button(s) turn green.
Then I raise the red buttoned numbers one or 2 up bypassing the numbers that are already green. Do not forget the zero. Boa sorte.
The box opens. Click on the scissors and see another puzzle.
String puzzle : The object of this puzzle is not to have any thread over another thread.
Click hold and drop a ball to move the thread that is attached to it.
The worked on thread is yellow and the overlapping threads are in red.
Move a ball as far out as you can and see if the other strings are cleared. If you see a red line, move the ball to an open space either inside or outside the others.
Turn all the threads to green.
Take ring when the secret compartment opens.
Mrs. Pitticot's House:
Use spade on the ground where the green arrow is pointed. Get Oak's play card .
Look close at the open glass cabinet at right. Move the pot at left to see another puzzle.
Slider puzzle : If done correctly, see a picture of Gordon in dress coat.
Gordon's chamber: Pick up wig on rack.
Wig on rack : Use the magnifying lens on the Aston label of the wig.
Move the wrapped paintings at right of room and under the window. Take key . Use the key on drawer to get dress coat .
Take hair from left foot of bed.
Move bed and see a new puzzle.
Box puzzle: The object of the box puzzle is to make more squares than the computer.
Watch the lines made by the computer. If there are 3 lines already, make the fourth line to make a square. The computer is tricky.
Make lines that will not make a square or later in the game, make least number of squares possible. Boa sorte. Read Lord Lindon's note .

Pipe puzzle: Turn pipes so that there is a complete connection from top to the bottom exit pipes. Block pipe branches. In the picture below turn the bottom pipe with cursor to the left.
Take the hair from the drained sink.
Backstage : Click on cloth , cane print , dirty fibre , footprint , blood and fishnet .
Net puzzle: Click net on puzzle piece.
The object of the puzzle is to get threads on the frayed part of the net without going over the non-frayed area.
Click on the numbers in order 1-23.
Use the net on the dove in the background. Take key from its leg.
Storeroom : Take spoon , knife , blood , ashes and red shoe polish .
Wall hooks: Click on the wall hooks at right wall.
Use spoon to remove a screw. Take statue .
Click on the umbrella to close it.
Trap door tumbler puzzle: Use the spoon on the trap door.
See a tumbler puzzle. The aim is to arrange the numbers at the center from 1 -10.
The closest groove to the center can have several numbers but only if they are in sequence.
The outer groves can take only single numbers.
Click hold drop the numbered metals.
Place 9 and 3 on outer grooves.
Place 7 8 and then add 9 and later 10 to inner groove.
While the other inner groove has 5 4 3 2 1.
Then arrange 1-10 at center groove.
Trap door opens.
Take mask and hair from the edges of the trap door.
Cement works: Click on 3 L bottle , 5 L bottle , greasy substance , hair , ashes and 8 sun rays .
Door : Click the 8 sun rays on the door. See a light beamed to the other wall.
Click on the lit wall.
Water weighing puzzle: The aim of the puzzle is to place 4 units of water over the #4 scale.
Fill the 5 units flask with water from the vat.
Use-click the filled 5 units flask on the 3 units flask to fill it leaving 2 units.
Empty the 3 units flask on the grate drain.
Use-click the 5 units flask (with 2 units) on the 3 units flask.
Fill the 5 units flask with water from the vat.
Use-click the filled 5 units flask on the 3 units flask to add 1 unit to it leaving 4 units.
Place the 5 units flask that contains 4 units water on the scale.
Take the note from the opened compartment.
Hall : Click on newspaper , 3 stem pieces of lamp and 3 bulb pieces of lamp .
Click the vase on the floor by the book shelves and see the drawer open.
Take the piece of lamp (bulbs) and the drawing of the lamp.
Assemble the lamp on the banister.
Click on a book that is lit by the lamp.
Painting difference puzzle : Click the book on the puzzle piece.
Click the part of the painting that is different from the other one.
Get a map of the Lindon Estate .
Map: Richmond Street - Hideout:
Click on candelabra ( lit candle ), candlestick , police notice , coin and crowbar .
Screen : Move the screen at background. Use the candelabra from bottom left and move it around to pick up the ashes .
Clown : Use crowbar on the 4 rocks over and in front of the clown stand lying on the ground at bottom left. It will be placed upright.
The footprint is in front of the clown on the ground.
Use the candlestick on clown.
Look close at clown and see a puzzle.
Card Puzzle : Insert a coin on slot. Pull down the candlestick arm.
The object of the puzzle is to pick up a card from the selection on the left and click that card on the right hand of the clown.
If it is the logical correct card, another selection is seen. If incorrect card, start over with the coin, arm and card selection.
First run: Clown shows 1 of diamond, 2 of spades and 3 of clubs. Select 4 of hearts from left and place on hand.
Second run: Pull arm. Clown shows 2 of spades, 3 of hearts and 5 of diamonds. Select 8 of clubs from left and place on hand.
Third run: Pull arm. Clown shows 1 of heart, 3 of clubs and 3 of diamonds. Select 1 of spades from left and place on hand.
The cigar is taken.
Office : Click on club letter on the book shelf.
Coat of arms: Click to open white book on desk.
Click to select similar coat of arms. Get 3 coat of arms .
Then place them on the empty coat of arms frame on left wall.
Fireplace is seen. Open the fireplace. Take ashes .
Safe Lock: Look close at safe to see the lock.
The object of the puzzle is to get an end result of 82 after entering numbers and doing the mathematical processes.
The math processes is from left to right: / is division, - minus, + addition x is multiplication.
Enter any 2 similar numbers for the first 2 digits. 6/6 - 0 + 3 x 3 x 9 = 82.
6/6 is 1 minus 0 = 1. 3 x 3 = 9 x 9 = 81. 1 + 81 = 82. Thanks, Ana!
Take the money and the hair .
Lady's Sitting room : Collect 2 pearls from sofa.
Look close at right side of room. Take 5 pearls .
Open the 2 drawers. Take 2 pearls , opera letter and ribbon .
Look close at the dresser after collecting items.
Pearl weighing puzzle: Look close at the scale.
The object is to get even weighing after using all 9 pearls.
Add one pearl at a time to find out which of the pearl has different weight than the others.
Take that odd pearl out of the pan if found and replace with a pearl that gives an even weighing.
With 3 more pearls to go (the odd weight pearl one of them), the scale with pearls should be even.
Then add 2 pearls to one pan and the odd weight pearl one on the other.
The secret compartment of the mirror opens.
Take the mother's letter at right.
Picture album: Take the scissors from the box at left and use it on the close of the picture album page on the left.
Click the scissor on the edges of the bottom picture and the click scissor on the picture itself to get a Vincent mother's picture .
Laboratory Table (can be done several times earlier in the game) : Look close at the lab table on the right.
The evidences collected are at the bottom of the page.
Take a ring, cloth or ashes evidence and place it under the microscope. Use the scalpel to cut and then use the tweezers to take a piece; if not use tweezers only: 1 ring, 4 green cloths, 5 satin ribbons, 1 painters cloth, 2 bandages, 1 nail with red paint and 5 ashes (one cloth ashes).
For invisible letter, place the invisible letter on the pan over the burner. Click the burner several times until words are formed on the letter. Read what Lord Lindon thought.
For grease (2 of them) and one dirty fiber, place the bowl over the pan that is over the burner. Place the grease in bowl. Add solvent and then water. After the dirty fiber is cleaned, use it on the microscope and take a thread.
For 2 powders (one in container), place powder on bowl. Add water and click on burner.
Deduction board: The aim here is to make a connection with the victim at top, evidence collected at bottom right and the suspects at bottom left. Also they have to be connected to clock (time of death) and the murder weapon (knife) that are at the center.
The correct connection is seen by a green line. To deduce the murderer, all lines should be green from suspect to evidence as well as time and weapon; also from the victim to the evidences.
Do the suspects and see if they connect to evidences in each room-place (right).
Click on an item from the suspect and see if it matched an item in the evidence frame by clicking on a similar item. For example: ashes with ashes, green cloth with green cloth or ribbon with ribbon or hair with hair. This way you then know who owns those evidence.
The victim and suspect already have a green line connection. The victim and the time of death and knife also have a green line connection.
1. Click on Richmond Alley hideout at bottom right area. Click on the knife and then click on the knife at center of the frame.
The knife in Richmond Alley hideout connects to the knife that is the murder weapon.
2. Click on the top footprint in Richmond Alley evidences and then click on the footprint of the victim at top of the screen.
The top footprint in Richmond Alley hideout matches to the footprint of Vincent the victim.
3. Open Lord Layton on the suspects at left area. Click on the expensive cigar and then click on the cigar ash at evidences of Richmond Alley hideout.
The cigar ash found behind the screen in Richmond Alley hideout matches the expensive cigar of Lord Layton.
4. Click on opera paper of Lord Layton as suspect and then click on the clock at center of the screen.
The opera paper of Lord Layton connects to the clock (time of death).

Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet Walkthrough & Cheats.

Overview: You are portraying the legendary Sherlock Holmes investigating the murder of a young painter who was rolled up in a very expensive Persian Carpet. Based on the stories of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, are you up for this 19th Century whodunit?
Dark Screen: The creators of this game did us a favor and under the options menu put a gamma setting. This setting allows you to change the brightness of the game without having to change your monitor settings.
Timed or Untimed: When you start a new game you can choose to either play the game timed or untimed. I highly recommend you play it untimed if you want a relaxing game. However, if you like trying to beat the clock, be my guest and leave it on timed mode. You can change this if you want by accessing it under the options menu also.
1. at each scene you must collect the objects identified only by their silhouettes at the bottom of the screen.
2. if the cursor turns into a magnifying glass, you can zoom in on the object/area.
3. if the cursor turns into little gears, it means you need to perform an action.
4. you are only granted 3 hints per level so use them wisely!
5. some of the object you find can only be accessed by dragging them onto the puzzle piece at the bottom of your screen and then solving the puzzle.
6. to exit a level click the x in the upper, right corner.
7. use the icons at the top to navigate to different places.
8. if the gear icon appears then it means there are combinations to be completed, it will turn golden when you have finished.
9. if the puzzle icon appears then it means there are puzzles to be solved, it also turns gold when they are completed.
10. if you need to pause the game, simply hit your escape key.
Cement Works - Deserted Room.
1. let's start by picking up the obvious items: Carpet, Green Cloth, Carpet Traces, & Matches.
2. next we need to see what's down in that dark hole:
* click the lever on the right wall to lower the lantern.
* drag the matches to the lantern.
* pick up the pieces of paper.
* reconstruct the letter by putting the pieces back together.
* you can rotate them by using your right mouse button.
* you now know where the painter was living.
1. click on the Scotland Yard button and review the Case Report.
* read the report and select the words that match the items shown below: White Weapon, Carpet, Blood.
2. click on testimonies and read what Mr. Flatham had to say.
3. Level 1 complete.
1. start at Scotland Yard and click on testimonies again to read what Mrs. Petticot has to say.
2. click on map and go to Mrs. Petticot's house.
1. pick up: Water, Red Paint, & Sponge.
2. now zoom in on the dresser.
3. pick up: Paint Brush and Knife.
4. zoom in on the painting and combine the paint brush and water.
5. use the paintbrush on the painting until you see the wet spots (you'll need to hold down your left mouse button to do this)
6. use the sponge to wipe off the paint (again, hold down the left mouse button) to reveal a lovely lady!
7. return to the map and go to the garden.
1. pick up: Menacing Letter, Garden Key, Golden Knife, Ashes, Shoe Print & Mud Traces.
2. zoom in on the locked glass greenhouse and use the key to open it.
3. move the plants and you'll find the Page Book.
4. drag the Page Book to the puzzle icon.
* you must drag the decoder over the letter until you find the message.
* click on the letters that are showing in order to reveal the message.
* hint: the letter L marked with red is part of the solution.
* hint: the largest box (which fits four letters) should be placed over the word skill so that kill is showing.
* answer: I will kill you, Vincent.
1. return to Scotland Yard and read the Suspects folder and choose Mary Summers.
2. you must find the hidden objects within the picture of the suspect by using the magnifying glass.
3. Level 2 complete.
1. return to Scotland Yard and read the Case Report, we are now allowed access to the crime scene photos.
2. in the picture of the victim, you must once again find the clues.
3. go to the map and click Aston Theater.
4. enter the Box.
1. pick up: Lipstick, Fake Knife, Paint & Male Hair.
2. read the sign on the back of the dresser.
3. pick up the three headbands and place them on the correct wig according to the sign.
4. when all three are correct a small door will open up, take Vincent Message.
5. take Vincent Message and drag it onto the puzzle icon.
* to replace a letter, select it with your mouse and choose a new letter, it will now appear changed below in the message.
* the arrangement of the letters is random.
* you have two visual clues to help you out, the pipe and the anatomy sketch.
* hint: pipe = Holmes.
* hint: sketch = Da Vinci.
* hint: all the names in the middle (above the note) are proper names, using this to solve the puzzle is the easiest way.
* hint: because the letter is from Vincent, we can assume the last word is Vincent.
* answer: Mary, my star, let's meet at my place tonight, but leave the knife. Lord Linden pays well; I'll be rich. Vincent.
1. pick up: Theater Knife, Set Traces & Boné.
2. click on the chest at the bottom left.
* this puzzle requires you to move all the pieces from the left to the right, and all the pieces on the right to the left.
* answer (White = W; Black = B): W B B W W W B B B B W W W W W B B B B B W W W W W B B B B W W W B B W.
3. take out the red and blue filters.
4. place the filters (one at a time) on the lamp hanging down (by the castle)
5. one of the filters will show a message on the wall.
1. return to Scotland Yard and click on Testimonies and read what Mr. Thomas has to say.
2. click on Suspects and choose Mr. Aston, once again you must find the clues in the picture.
3. Level 3 complete.
1. before going to the new location, click on Suspects and choose Mr. Willis and find the items.
1. pick up: Blood, Box with Pieces, Knife, Shoe Print & Stolen Statue.
2. click the mattress and pick up Revenge Note.
3. click center of back brick wall and a puzzle will open.
4. you need to put the pieces together to resemble Mr. Willis' tattoo and receive the Shares Paper.
1. return to Scotland Yard and review Testimonies to see what Mr. Lindon has to say.
2. go back to the map and click on Lindon Hall, Office.
1. pick up: Ashes, Cement Powder, Paper Knife.
2. click on the portrait of Mr. Lindon's father and click around his vest until the picture swings open to reveal a hidden safe (so cliché)
3. you must recreate the puzzle at left by moving the columns around.
* hover you mouse near the edge of the blocks to see which way they can move.
* no box can stand alone.
* there are multiple ways to solve the puzzle.
4. zoom in on safe and get Invisible Paper & Feather.
5. go back to map and go to the Hall.
1. pick up: Red Paint & Shoe Print.
2. lift the corner of the rug and get Graph Paper.
3. drag Graph Paper to puzzle icon.
* the numbers indicate the amount of squares to blacken in each column/row.
* blackened squares are separated by at least one white space.
* one click will blacken the square.
* two clicks will mark it as a possibility.
* three clicks will erase it.
* hint: you can blacken in both 10 Down which also eliminates the first four columns across which only have 2 spaces blackened.
4. zoom in on bookshelf and push the letters IJ, OP, & UV (the letters on the bottom of the puzzle)
5. a drawer opens, pick up: Money, Violet Ink Note.
1. return to Scotland Yard and click Suspects and choose Lord Lindon and find the items.
2. Level 4 complete.
1. click on Testimonies and read what Mr. Yelling has to say.
2. click on the map and go to Lindon Hall - Lady's Sitting Room.
1. pick up Decorative Dagger.
2. zoom in on the book and pick up the Male Nails and the Poetry behind the potted plant.
3. zoom in one dresser and pick up Powder.
4. click on the box and a puzzle will pop up.
* you need to find the correct sequence of numbers.
* if the number is red it is incorrect.
* if the number is green it is correct.
* no number is used twice.
* underneath the numbers you'll see a button with a 5, click it to submit your numbers.
* you only have 5 tries before it resets.
* the order of numbers is completely random every time so just keep at it until you get it correct and be patient.
5. inside the box is. another puzzle.
* you have to grab the round nodes and pull them until none of them cross.
* if strings are red it means they are crossing.
* note: if you replay this from the Persian Carpet Puzzles at 221 Baker Street the crossed strings are grey as in my screenshot.
* you want to turn them all green.
* there is not set solution for this puzzle so unfortunately you are on your own but here is a screenshot.
6. when you finish the string puzzle a small drawer opens, get the Gold Ring.
7. go to map and return to Mrs. Petticot's House - Garden.
1. pick up: Shovel & Ribbon.
2. use the Shovel in the open spot between the bushes and the plant stands and get Playing Card.
3. zoom in on the open greenhouse, move the left potted plant and a puzzle opens.
* this is a slider puzzle.
* the boards can either move horizontally or vertical but not both at once.
* you need to clear a path for the black and white picture.
* if I placed the number in the middle of the board, it means it will automatically go the right direction.
* if there is more than one number in the screenshot, it is closest to the direction it needs to move.
4. when the puzzle is complete you'll have Photo in Dress-Coat.
5. now lets return to the map and go to Gordon's Chambers.
1. move the bed and get Dark Hair.
2. click on the panel under the bed and you'll get another puzzle.
* this puzzle is like the game Dots you might have played as a child.
* on your turn you draw a line but try not to connect more than 2 sides.
* you want to try and force your opponent to connect 3 sides so that you may finish the square on your turn and claim the box.
* you want to claim as many boxes as possible.
3. when you finish the puzzle get Lord's Message.
4. hanging on the hooks is a wig.
* use the magnifying glass on it to find the name Aston and it will be added to your inventory.
5. move the paintings from under the window and get the Painters Key.
6. use the Painters Key on the dresser drawers to get Dress Coat.
1. return to Scotland Yard and click on Suspects.
2. look at Lady Lindon's picture and find the items.
3. now choose suspect Gary Oak and find the items.
4. Level 5 complete.
1. pick up: Greasy Substance, Male Hair, Ashes, 5L Bottle, 3L Bottle, & 8 Sun Rays.
2. place the 8 sun rays into the sun on the door.
3. click the area that sun shines onto and you get another puzzle.
* the scale must be lowered to a specific weight.
* take a flask and fill it with the water from the vat.
* test it by putting it on the scale.
* you can empty it by pouring it into the other bottle or pouring it down the grate.
* you have to have 4 liters of water.
* fill the big flask.
* pour it into the little one.
* empty the little flask down the drain.
* pour the big flask into the little flask.
* fill the big flask.
* pour the big flask into the little flask.
* now you should have 4 Liters.
* place it on the scale (with the 4) and a door will open.
* take the Statues Letter.
1. pick up: Theater Note, List of Costumes, 2 Wheels, 2 Screw Nuts, & Monkey Wrench.
2. put Wheels back on gold cart (by sink), put Nuts on top of wheels, use Monkey Wrench.
3. click underneath the sink.
4. Pipe Puzzle - you need to connect all the pipes from the top to the bottom by rotating them.
5. take Hair from the drained sink.
1. pick up: Cloth, Cane Print, Blood, Shoe Print, Dirty Fibers & Fishnet.
2. the net has a big hole in it.
* you need to click the ends to tie a knot.
* the repaired ends can not pass over a spot already repaired.
* start at #1 which I have circled and follow the numbers/arrows from 1 - 24.
3. use mended Fishnet on the bird (walking on power cable) and retrieve Spare Key from it's leg.
1. pick up: Blood, Spare Room Knife, Spoon, Red Shoe Polish, Ashes & Thief Mask.
2. zoom in on hooks.
3. use Spare Room Knife on hook to reveal compartment and take Stolen Statue.
4. click on parasol and reveal a trap door.
5. use spoon on trap door and get a lock puzzle.
* you must place the tumblers in order from 1 - 10 in the grooves above and below the lock.
* you have to start with 9.
* red = where you need to move them the 1st time.
* blue = where you need to move them the 2nd time.
* green = where you need to move them the 3rd time.
* yellow = where you need to move them the 4th time.
6. once door is open take Male Hair and Thief Mask.
1. pick up: Newspaper & 5 Pieces of Lamp.
2. move potted plant by bookshelf.
4. get Piece of Lamp and view the diagram.
5. put the lamp back together (it's base is on the banister) according to the diagram.
6. follow the light to get the Book.
7. drag the book to the puzzle icon.
8. find the differences between the pictures.
9. get the Map of the Hall.
10. Level 6 complete.
1. pick up: Lit Candle, Crowbar, Coin, Police Note, & Castiçal.
2. move room divider and it will zoom in.
3. down in the bottom, left corner is the Lit Candle, use it to move around and get the Ashes in the corner.
4. take the Crowbar and move those rocks around the automaton (carnival machine) and get the Footprint.
5. place the Candlestick where the other automaton's arm should be and you'll get a puzzle.
* you must find the logical sequence of cards on the automaton's chest.
* insert your coin and pull the lever.
* select a card and put it in it's hand.
* example 1: it shows Ace of Diamonds, Two of Clubs, Three of Spades. you need to choose Four of Hearts.
* example 2: Two of Spades, Three of Hearts, Five of Diamonds. 2+3 = 5 so 3 + 5 = 8 and you need Clubs.
* example 3: Ace of Diamonds, Three of Clubs, Three of Spades. you need Ace of Hearts.
6. receive Thin Cigar.
1. zoom in on the safe.
2. click on the row of numbers at top and you get a math puzzle (oh joy)
* you need to figure out: # divided by # - # + # + # = 82.
* you have until the timer at the top runs out and then it resets to 0.
* not every window has all the numbers.
* from left to right:
* window 1 = 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.
* window 2 = 0 thru 9.
* window 3 = 0, 3, 6, 9.
* window 4 = 0thru 9.
* window 5 = 0, 3, 6, 9.
* window 6 = 0 thru 9.
* the answer as you go along is show at the bottom.
l. answer: 6 / 6 - 0 + 3 x 3 x 9.
2. get Male Hair & Bloody Bank Notes.
3. click the smaller, white book on the desk.
4. Matching Game: simply find the 2 Coat of Arms that look alike to get Coat of Arms, you need to do this 3 times.
5. place the coat of arms into their spots on the wall to reveal a fireplace.
6. open the fireplace grate and take the Ashes.
1. pick up: 2 Pearls.
2. zoom in on right side of the room and get 5 Pearls.
3. open up top and bottom drawer and get: 2 Pearls, Ribbon, & Opera Paper.
4. zoom in on dresser and get: Scissors.
5. click the statue and you get another weight puzzle.
* you must place the pearls on the trays until the balance.
* you must use all the pearls.
* one pearl is a different weight than the others.
* place them on the scale and take them off one at a time until you figure out which one is different (it is the 2nd one from the left, back row and it is lighter than the rest)
* now place all the other pearls evenly on both sides and add the lightest pearl last to the right side.
7. return to 221 Baker Street.
8. Level 7 complete.
1. click on the Laboratory desk to analyze the clues.
2. drag them either to the microscope or the burner.
3. when you finish with the lab you can click on the Deduction Board.
1. Nails & Gold Ring - microscope, scrape, use tweezers to pick up evidence.
2. Ribbon, Cloth & Bandage - microscope, cut, use tweezers to take thread in middle.
* note: one cloth won't require cutting and will only give you tweezers, click on the smallest piece of thread.
3. Ashes - microscope, use tweezers to take some.
4. Invisible Letter - place on burner, click burner to light.
5. Grease & Fibers - place bowl over burner, then put grease in bowl, add water and solvent.
* note: one fiber is left in the bowl, place them under the microscope, cut, use tweezers.
6. Powder & Make Up - place bowl over burner, put powder in bowl, add water, light burner.
1. link the various pieces of evidence with the victim.
2. if the match if valid the line will turn green.
3. suspects are on the right and evidence is on the left.
4. remember time of death and murder weapon.
5. start with the suspects and find that only one that ties to the time of death.
6. now that we know who did it, let's go to the evidence box.
7. run through each screen and you'll see the knives match up to several scenes.
8. let's focus on the footprint and ashes instead.
9. find the one area that connects the footprint to the victim and the suspects cigar to the ashes.
10. now check and see if the knife matches the murder weapon. it does!

the hidden picture in the grid is an arrow pointing down the two columns at the top of the page.
(10) are filled in all the way down. work your way out from there. when you get it right, it will print a code at the bottom of the page (IJ OP UV).
Now the only part I don't understand is the lines with 3 numbers. How does that work and still make an arrow?

Seanrick - if you're talking about the cryptogram (the one where you have to swap one letter for another), be sure that you've decoded the words above the letter, as well.
to my dreamworld you have to move white number one to the left then 5 black to the rigth then 4 blak rigth then white 1,2,3 to the left and black 5,4,3,2 right.

pins and string puzzle help..I know this is random, but has anyone figured out a starting point in this one. I've been on this one for days now..
I done it but it took a while and I don't know how I did it.
I have been stuck on the string puzzle as well. I haven't played the game in about four days because I get aggravated. The thing that stinks is, when you run out of time there is no save point that allows you to go straight to the string puzzle, instead you have to do the stupid red box lock puzzle again. I gave up!
